Violence against women and children continues to cause harm, produce trauma and hinder opportunities for those at risk in Belize. In 2018, 100% of all sexual violence cases reported were of female victims and 79% of those female victims were 19 years and younger (Belize Crime Observatory, 2018). In that same year, there were 429 reports of sexual abuse cases made to the Department of Human Services (DHS, 2018).

Further, in 2018, there were 2061 reported incidents of domestic violence. More work is needed at the community level to make the home a safer place for women and girls. CDF supports a whole community approach to ending violence against women and girls in all its forms whether it be child sexual abuse, human trafficking, commercial sexual exploitation of children, or domestic violence.  Find out more about what we do and how you can join us.
